Sex Cases

R v S 2021 Leicester Crown Court.  Allegation of Sexual Communication with a girl under 16.  Not guilty verdict returned.

R v L 2021 Leicester Crown Court, serious sexual assault in a domestic setting which was part of a nasty campaign of control and coercive behaviour over a period of 2 years.

R v V 2020  Leicester Crown Court Series of serious sexual offences with child under the age of 16 ranging from sexual communication to penetrative sexual activity.  Mental health issues taken into account.  Judge persuaded not to consider dangerousness.  Total sentence 3 years custody.

R v A 2020 Leicester Crown Court.  Historical sexual abuse.

R v C 2019 Leicester Crown Court.  Case of domestic rape and assault.  Not guilty verdict.

R v D 2018 Derby Crown Court.  Case of domestic rape, followed by witness intimidation.

R v S 2017 Burnley/Preston Crown Court.  Hungarian individual targeting bungalows in the Colne area to commit sexual acts on the elderly.  Case was covered on BBC Northwest tonight.

R v K 2017 Stafford Crown Court.  Case involving historic sexual abuse.  Case involved vulnerable/juvenile witness

R v S 2017 Preston Crown Court.  Defendant, who had engaged in a sexual relationship with his 13 year old step daughter.

Violence and Public Order Cases

R v L-S 2021 Leicester Crown Court. Allegation of kidnapping.  Negotiated down to false imprisonment.  Group action, defendant played the lead role, but ended up with same sentence as co-defendant with lesser role 30 months custody.

R v H 2021 Leicester Crown Court.  Aggravated Burglary.  Not guilty verdict.

R v K 2020 Leicester Crown Court.  Arson with Intent to Endanger Life.  Defendant unhappy with her partner, set fire to his t-shirt and put it under the doorway to his flat.  Both defendant and complainant lived in a house which had been converted into four separate flats.  Risk of whole building burning down.  Mental health issues taken into account and given 18 month community order.

R v S 2020 Leicester Crown Court.  Murder case.  Partial defences of sudden loss of control and diminished responsibility relied upon to reduce the matter to manslaughter.  Various psychological issues explored such as, Limited Cognitive function, Impulsive Behaviour Disorder and Dissociative Identity Disorder.

R v W 2019 Leicester Crown Court.  Defendant was charged with a domestic related common assault, criminal damage and perverting the course of justice.  Defendant found not guilty on criminal damage and perverting the course of justice.

R v K 2019 Leicester Crown Court.  Defendant charged with 2 section 18 GBH offences, both negotiated down to section 20 offences.  This was reflected in the reduced sentence of 22 months.

R v C 2018 Preston Crown Court.  Allegation of section 47 assault, on defendant’s 7 year old step son.  Not guilty verdict.

R v H 2018 Stafford Crown Court.  Family feud resulting in the offence of violent disorder, involving in a wide scale fight with hockey sticks and baseball bats.  Not guilty verdict.

R v Q 2018 Nottingham Crown Court.  Allegation of robbery, victim aged 102 years old had to treat her as a vulnerable victim and go through ground rules hearing procedure.

R v T 2018 Leicester Crown Court.  Case of multiple robberies involving an imitation firearm on each occasion.  One shop was targeted three times.  Defendant got a 4 year custodial sentence.

R v D 2017 Burnley/Preston Crown Court.  Road rage incident, resulting in an allegation of affray and threatening behaviour with an offensive weapon.  Not guilty verdicts.

Conspiracy Cases

R v B 2020 Leicester Crown Court.  Operation Salt.  Multi-handed case involving a conspiracy to steal motor vehicles to the total value of £2 million.

R v N 2019 Leicester Crown Court.  Multi-handed conspiracy to supply cannabis.  Not guilty verdict.

R v D 2017 Preston Crown Court.  Operation Ludlow, mutli-handed human trafficking case.  Women being trafficked mainly from Romania for purposes of prostitution.  Heavy content case with 32,000 pages of evidence.

R v M 2016 Leeds Crown Court.  Multi-handed Romanian case, involving conspiracy to steal from supermarkets across the north of England.

R v L 2020 Leicester Crown Court.  Cultivation of cannabis case.  Defendant brought into country on the back of a lorry and asked to pay debt off by looking after and assisting with the cultivation of cannabis.

R v L 2020 Leicester Crown Court.  Another cultivation of cannabis case.  This defendant also brought into country on the back of a lorry and asked to pay debt off by looking after and assisting with the cultivation of cannabis.

R v B 2018 Lincoln Crown Court.  County lines drug case.

R v V 2018 Bradford Crown Court.  Group of Vietnamese people trafficked into the country and placed in a cannabis farm.

Fraud/Money Laundering

R v A Leeds Crown Court.  Defendant allowed his bank account to be used for money that was being obtained fraudulently from elderly people in the Humberside area.  Total amount of money taken was in excess of £300,000.  Guilty plea led to 2 year sentence with a nominal figure of £1 for POCA pursposes.

R v P Leeds Crown Court.  Defendant allowed his bank account to be used for funds to the value of £50,000 to be fraudulently diverted in commercial transactions.  Guilty plea on day of trial, given a suspended sentence.
